Once you've decided to order personalized gifts, selecting the personalization style for your embroided or engraved piece can seem confusing. Gidget's has gathered useful tips, font suggestions, style descriptions and examples to assist you in personalizing your product, so you can avoid any worries of committing a monogramming faux pas.

Font Styles

Available fonts will vary by product, but there is always a wide range of choices from which you may choose. Typically, fancier fonts such as script fonts or curly fonts are used for women, while block fonts are used for men.

Personalization Styles

While available personalization styles may vary by product, most of our personalized gift offer multiple styles from which to choose to add that personal touch to your gift.

• Single Initial Style:

  Displays single initial of your choice. Commonly used for women's, men's and children's gifts. For women's gifts such as jewelry, handbags, bath wraps and accessories, the First Initial is recommended. For gifts for women such as soaps, candles, and towels – and items for men – the Last Name initial is recommended.

• Monogram Style:

  Traditionally used for women. Displays in order of First, Last, Middle Name Initials, with last name initial enlarged in the center.

Ex. Julia Lynn Smith:

• 3 Initial Style:

  Traditionally used for men. Displays in order of First, Middle, Last Name Initials, with all letters the same size.

Ex. Thomas Henry Moore:

• Stacked Monogram Style:

  Traditionally used for women. Displays First Initial atop Middle Initial with Last Name Initial enlarged to the right. Available on select embroidered gifts only.

Ex. Sophia Michelle Walker:

• Couples Monogram Style:

  Ordering a monogrammed gift for a couple? If possible, check with the couple to see how they would prefer their monogram or initials to appear. Traditionally, when the couple shares a common last name, this displays in order of Woman's First Name Initial, Couple's Shared Last Name Initial enlarged in center, Man's First Name Initial. Or in a pinch, simply monogram the shared last name initial.

Ex. Beth Eva Jones marries Gavin John Morris:

• Text Style:

  Displays name or text. Commonly used for women's, men's and children's gifts. Text style is a nice choice for reverse side engraving should you wish to include a message or date on the back of your gift.

Ordering Embroidered Gifts

Follow these simple steps, and ordering the perfect embroidered gift is a snap:

1. After choosing your gift, select any options, such as size or color.
2. View available Thread Colors by clicking the tab above the prodcuct description, then select your thread color in the drop down menu.
3. View available Embroidery Styles & Fonts. Choose a font available in your preferred embroidery style.
4. Make your Font Style and Embroidery Style selections in the drop down menu.
5. Enter your personalization or embroidery text.
6. If necessary, enter any special instructions, then click Add to Cart – and you're done!

Some embroidered gifts offer the option of graphics, either free or for an additional charge. If you would like a graphic, you may view them on the graphics tab and then select it from the drop down menu. You can even take advantage of our Free Gift wrap and include a message with your gift. Enter the recipient's address when checking out, and your gift can be delivered to their door personalized and wrapped!

Ordering Engraved Gifts

Ordering an engraved gift they will love couldn't be easier when you follow these steps:

1. After choosing your gift, select any options, such as size or color.
2. View available Engraving Fonts & Styles by clicking the tab above the product description.
3. Choose a font available in your preferred engraving style, then make your Font Style and Engraving Style selections in the drop down menu.
4. Enter your personalization or engraving text.
5. If your would like reverse side engraving and it is available, select a font from the drop down menu and enter your text.
6. If necessary, enter any special instructions, then click Add to Cart – and you're done!

While text for names and messages may be available, keep in mind that long messages or long names may not always fit on smaller gift items, or may become unreadable. Should that happen, we will contact you soon after receiving your order to offer you options to make your gift perfect. You can also take advantage of our Free Gift wrap and include a message with your gift. Enter the recipient's address when checking out, and your gift can be delivered to their door personalized and wrapped!
